Madhya Pradesh Lays Foundation for Two New Medical Colleges, Boosting State’s Healthcare Infrastructure
Madhya Pradesh has laid the foundation for two new medical colleges in Dhar and Betul under the PPP model, in the presence of Union Health Minister JP Nadda. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the projects will strengthen healthcare services and raise the state’s medical college count to 35.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, addressing the occasion, described the moment as a matter of collective pride for the state. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and with what he termed the blessings of Baba Mahakal, Madhya Pradesh’s health services have been steadily growing stronger and more resilient. His remarks underscored the government’s emphasis on linking cultural identity with development-driven governance.
The foundation stone was laid in the presence of Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, whose participation highlighted the Centre’s support for expanding healthcare infrastructure in the state. Senior officials and representatives associated with the project were also present at the ceremony.
With the addition of the Dhar and Betul institutions, the total number of medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh will rise to 35, reflecting a sharp expansion in recent years. The government has positioned the PPP model as a way to accelerate infrastructure development while ensuring academic and clinical standards in medical education.
Chief Minister Yadav noted that the new colleges would not only enhance healthcare services in their respective regions but also create fresh opportunities for employment, particularly for young people aspiring to careers in medicine and allied health fields. He added that the institutions are expected to play a key role in addressing the shortage of medical professionals in underserved areas.
The establishment of these two medical colleges is seen as a strategic move toward improving healthcare delivery and medical education capacity in Madhya Pradesh. As construction moves forward, the projects are expected to contribute to long-term public health outcomes while reinforcing the state’s position as a growing hub for medical education in central India.
