Operation ‘Naya Savera’: Saran Police Rescue 10 Girls from Orchestras, Arrest 7 Accused

Saran, August 13, 2025. Under Bihar Police’s ongoing special drive ‘Operation Naya Savera’, Saran Police conducted a major crackdown early this morning, rescuing 10 girls, including 9 minors, from orchestras where they were allegedly being forced to dance. Acting on the instructions of Saran SSP and in line with the directives issued by the Additional Director General of Police (Weaker Sections), the raids were carried out in different locations under Isuapur police station limits.

The action came after a letter from Shri Priyank Kanungo, Member of the National Human Rights Commission, prompted intensified operations. A joint team comprising Women’s Police Station officers, AHTU (Anti Human Trafficking Unit) Saran, and members from several rescue organisations—Mission Mukti Foundation, Rescue Foundation Delhi, Narayani Seva Sansthan Saran, and Rescue & Relief Foundation West Bengal—surrounded and raided Rahul Orchestra, Sangeeta Orchestra, Muskan Orchestra, and Bipin Orchestra.

During the operation, 6 girls from West Bengal, 1 from Odisha, 1 from Jharkhand, and 2 from Bihar were freed. Police arrested 7 orchestra operators identified as:

  1. Niraj Yadav, son of Lalbabu Rai, resident of Gopalbadi, PS Mashrak, Saran

  2. Talib Khan, son of Late Alam Miyan, resident of Khaira, PS Khaira, Saran

  3. Shubham Kumar, son of Shivnarayan Prasad, resident of Gopalbadi, PS Mashrak, Saran

  4. Junab Hussain, son of Abul Hussain, resident of Sahwan Nawada, PS Isuapur, Saran

  5. Ankit Kumar, son of Kanhaiya Bhagat, resident of Mirzapur, PS Marhaura, Saran

  6. Md. Bittu Hasmi, son of Md. Minsharif Harami, resident of Murayan, PS Isuapur, Saran

  7. Chandan Kumar Tiwari, son of Gautam Tiwari, resident of Sanili Khana, Saran

A case (Women’s PS Case No. 74/25 dated 13.08.2025) has been registered and further investigation is underway.


215 Girls Rescued Since May 2024

Public Appeal for SupportAccording to the SSP Saran, since the start of the special drive in May 2024, Saran Police have rescued 215 girls from immoral trafficking networks, registered 27 cases, and arrested 79 accused, all of whom have been sent to judicial custody. Raids are continuing to nab the remaining offenders.

The police headquarters has launched ‘Operation Naya Savera’ statewide from 31 July to 14 August 2025 to curb immoral trafficking and sex rackets, alongside Saran Police’s local campaign ‘Awaaz Do’ against exploitation of women. Citizens are urged to share any information about such crimes via the ‘Awaaz Do’ helpline number 9031600191.

Officials reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling trafficking networks and ensuring the rehabilitation and safety of victims, while warning those involved in such crimes of strict legal action.
