The Union government on Monday introduced the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the proposal to update the 2017 Manipur GST Act, aiming to enhance transparency, efficiency, and compliance within the state’s tax administration.

The Lok Sabha has passed the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, updating provisions of the state’s 2017 GST Act. The legislation aims to modernise tax administration, improve compliance, and bring Manipur’s GST framework in line with evolving national standards for greater efficiency and clarity.
