Inferno at Amroha Industrial Hub: Twin Cotton Factories Devastated by Major Blaze

A massive fire has devastated two cotton factories in the Islamnagar area of Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. The blaze, which occurred under the Amroha Nagar Kotwali jurisdiction, caused losses worth lakhs of rupees as firefighters battled for hours to contain the flames. No casualties were reported, and an official investigation into the cause is now underway.

AMROHA – A massive fire tore through two prominent cotton processing units in the Islamnagar area of Amroha on Friday, resulting in extensive property damage and sending shockwaves through the local industrial community. The conflagration, which broke out under mysterious circumstances within the jurisdiction of the Amroha Nagar Kotwali, escalated with such speed that it threatened to engulf neighboring residential blocks before emergency services could intervene.

According to eyewitness accounts, the blaze began in one of the facilities and quickly spread to the adjacent unit, fed by the highly combustible raw cotton and finished textiles stored on-site. Within minutes, a towering column of black smoke was visible across the city skyline, triggering a state of panic as residents scrambled to evacuate the immediate vicinity. Local authorities were alerted at approximately mid-afternoon, prompting a rapid mobilization of the district’s firefighting resources.

The Fire Department dispatched multiple tenders to the scene, where crews faced significant challenges in containing the inferno due to the dense packing of flammable materials and narrow access points. Firefighters battled the flames for several hours in an intensive operation to prevent the fire from leaping to nearby structures. While the cooling process is still underway, preliminary assessments by fire safety officials suggest that the financial toll is significant, with machinery and stock worth lakhs of rupees reduced to ash.

Fortunately, administrative officials have confirmed that there were no casualties or serious injuries reported during the incident, as workers managed to exit the buildings shortly after the first signs of smoke appeared. The Amroha Police have cordoned off the Islamnagar industrial patch and launched a formal investigation to determine the definitive cause of the fire, with electrical short-circuiting currently being considered a likely factor.

This incident has once again brought the issue of industrial safety protocols to the forefront, as local business unions call for a review of fire prevention measures in the city’s congested manufacturing zones. As factory owners begin the grim task of surveying the wreckage, the catastrophe serves as a sobering reminder of the vulnerability of the region's textile infrastructure to high-intensity industrial accidents.
