Amit Shah Vows to End TMC Injustice and Resolve Gorkhaland Demands in Decisive West Bengal Campaign Finale

Union Home Minister Amit Shah concludes his West Bengal campaign with a scathing attack on TMC and Mamata Banerjee. Promising to resolve Gorkhaland demands and withdraw all cases against Gorkhas by July 31, Shah frames the 2026 assembly elections as a historic turning point. With polls on April 23 and 29, the BJP aims to topple the TMC government and ensure safety for women across the state.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah brought his campaign to a formal close in West Bengal on Tuesday, delivering a scathing and relentless attack against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Congress party. Addressing a massive rally on his final day in the state, Shah framed the 2026 elections as a historic turning point for the region, expressing absolute confidence in a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) victory. Amidst a sea of saffron supporters, the Home Minister asserted that the political winds in the state have shifted decisively, remarking that he could now say for sure that the BJP will come to power in West Bengal this time. Focus shifted heavily toward incumbent Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, as Shah declared that it is time to say "Mamata Didi bye-bye."

Speaking specifically to a rally in Darjeeling, Amit Shah vowed to end the injustice perpetrated by the Trinamool Congress against the Gorkha community. He accused Mamata Banerjee of attempting to suppress the history of the Gorkhas and asserted that Darjeeling must make the Congress, the Communists, and the TMC pay for painting the hills with blood. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi ji, Shah promised to end this injustice and resolve the long-pending demands of the Gorkhaland movement—a long-standing demand for a separate state within India by the people of the Darjeeling Hills and those of Indian Gorkha ethnic origin in the northern part of West Bengal. As a concrete administrative commitment, Shah pledged to withdraw all hundreds of false cases filed against Gorkha brothers before the deadline of July 31, ensuring a solution that would eliminate the need for further protests.

Further attacking Mamata Banerjee, the Home Minister stated that this election is a mission to free Bengal from the crimes of the TMC. He emphasized that the residents of Bengal have decided it is time to remove "Didi" to provide safety to mothers and sisters, vowing that every rapist will be put behind bars. The current high-stakes confrontation follows the 2021 battle where the TMC secured a landslide 213 seats, though the BJP’s growth from a minor player to 77 seats in the last cycle has set the stage for this intense political shift. As West Bengal prepares for two phases of assembly polls on April 23 and 29, with results set for May 4, Amit Shah’s final appeal serves as a definitive push to free the state from incumbent rule.
