Fadnavis Calls on Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal, Jabalpur to Lead New Initiatives for Marathi Language Growth

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged the Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal, Jabalpur, to launch dedicated initiatives for the development and promotion of the Marathi language, assuring government funding to support education, preservation, and wider outreach of Marathi.

Mumbai: Emphasising the need to strengthen and preserve Maharashtra’s linguistic heritage, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged the Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal, Jabalpur, to take proactive steps toward the development and promotion of the Marathi language. His appeal highlights the state government’s broader commitment to ensuring that Marathi continues to thrive across educational and cultural spheres.

Addressing the role of academic and educational institutions in language preservation, Fadnavis said the Maharashtra government is prepared to extend financial support for initiatives focused on Marathi language development. He noted that such funding would help launch new programmes aimed at expanding the reach of Marathi in education, research, and public life.

The Chief Minister encouraged the Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal to utilise this opportunity to design and implement meaningful projects that contribute to the enrichment, propagation, and long-term safeguarding of the language. According to him, institutions with a legacy in education carry a special responsibility in nurturing linguistic identity while adapting to contemporary educational needs.

Fadnavis’ remarks underline the administration’s intent to collaborate with established educational bodies to strengthen regional languages through structured policies and targeted funding. By linking government support with institutional initiative, the state aims to ensure that Marathi not only retains its cultural significance but also gains renewed relevance in modern academic and social contexts.
