CM Nitish Kumar Conducts Aerial Survey of Flood-Hit Districts

Patna, August 14, 2025 Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday carried out an aerial survey of the flood-affected districts of Vaishali, Patna, Begusarai, and Munger to assess the ground situation. During the survey, he issued strict directives to concerned officials to expedite relief and rescue operations.

As part of the survey, the Chief Minister inspected flood-hit areas including Raghopur Diara in Vaishali district, Kala Diara, Rupas Mahaji, Ramnagar, Kasha Diara, Mokama, Badh, and Fatuha’s Tal region in Patna district. He also took stock of the situation in affected regions of Begusarai and Munger.

In his instructions, Nitish Kumar directed the Water Resources Department to remain fully alert and maintain constant monitoring of the situation. He stressed that in low-lying areas where water levels are rising, continuous surveillance should be ensured. District Magistrates have been asked to keep a close watch on developments, while engineers are to remain on high alert. Senior officials have been instructed to camp in the affected areas.

The Chief Minister also directed the Disaster Management Department to maintain round-the-clock monitoring and ensure that affected people receive full assistance as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). He emphasized that relief and rescue work must be carried out with complete sensitivity and promptness, ensuring that no victim faces any inconvenience.

According to Nitish Kumar, all districts and concerned departments have already been issued detailed SOP-based guidelines, which must be followed strictly. These include arrangements for boat operations, polythene sheets, relief materials, medicines, cattle fodder, flood shelters, community kitchens, dry ration/food packets, and district emergency operation centers. He instructed officials to ensure adequate availability of these resources so that relief can reach the affected population without delay.

Accompanying the Chief Minister during the aerial survey were Principal Secretary to CM Deepak Kumar, Secretary to CM Anupam Kumar, Secretary to CM Kumar Ravi, and Disaster Management Department Secretary Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh.

Large parts of Bihar’s low-lying areas are currently inundated due to heavy rainfall, with river water levels continuing to rise. The state government has activated relief camps, community kitchens, and emergency centers, while rescue teams are deploying boats to evacuate stranded residents to safer locations.
