Patna, August 11, 2025 – Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for six major infrastructure projects worth ₹766.73 crore under the “Pragati Yatra” initiatives for the western urban region of Patna district. The ceremonies were held at multiple locations, with a strong emphasis on easing traffic congestion, boosting connectivity, and accelerating socio-economic growth.
At a function held at AIIMS Golambar, the Chief Minister unveiled the foundation stone for the ₹138.5 crore widening and strengthening of the 10.5 km AIIMS Golambar–Janipur–Panapur Neva road (part of the Bihta–Sarmera Patna Ring Road network) into a two-lane highway. He also inaugurated the ₹73.06 crore construction of a 1.015 km flyover at Naubatpur Lakh, located at the 17th km mark of the Naubatpur–Masaurhi road.
Nitish Kumar said these projects would significantly reduce traffic congestion for commuters from Phulwarisharif, AIIMS, Danapur, Naubatpur, and other parts of western Patna. “Once the Naubatpur Lakh flyover is ready, people will be relieved from chronic traffic jams in the area, and access to Masaurhi will become smoother. This will spur industrial, economic, and social development in the region,” he stated.
The AIIMS–Neva route connects NH-139 (four-lane) to the Bihta–Sarmera six-lane corridor via Babhanpura, Janipur, Akbarpur, and Punpun Safety Dam, offering faster travel and enhanced trade routes. The flyover will also save travel time for commercial vehicles moving from Patna to Masaurhi, Bikram, and other destinations.
Later, at an event at Rupaspur Canal in Kothwan, the CM laid the foundation stone for the ₹71.48 crore widening and strengthening of the 6.9 km Khagaul Nehru Path stretch from Ashok Raj Path to Rupaspur Canal Path into a four-lane road. “With connectivity to the Danapur–Bihta elevated road, this project will benefit local residents and improve access to Patliputra railway station,” Nitish noted.
In another ceremony beneath the Patli Path on Nehru Path, the CM launched the ₹143.86 crore project to connect Digha–AIIMS Patli Path to Danapur via Nehru Path. This will improve road network efficiency, reduce congestion on Nehru Path, and make travel from JP Setu to AIIMS more seamless.
The Chief Minister also initiated the ₹318.51 crore widening of the 2.7 km stretch of Nehru Path from Rupaspur Canal to Saguna Mor, which includes the construction of underground drains on both sides. With western Patna witnessing rapid urban growth, the project aims to provide durable infrastructure by replacing the existing 12-meter-wide kutcha drain with box culvert structures supporting a road.
Additionally, Nitish Kumar laid the foundation for the ₹21.35 crore widening and strengthening of the 2.2 km Nehru Path–Gola Road link. With Gola Road emerging as a hub of high-rise residential complexes and commercial establishments, the expansion will ease travel for residents and connect them better with Danapur.
Highlighting the significance of these projects, the CM said, “It is heartening to note that all six road projects under the Patna Urban (Western Region) plan are now underway. Work should commence immediately and be completed at the earliest. Once operational, these projects will vastly improve mobility, reduce traffic bottlenecks, and enhance overall quality of life for the people of western Patna.”
The event saw the presence of Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, Legislative Council member Ravindra Kumar Singh, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Development Commissioner Pratyaya Amrit, Secretary to CM Kumar Ravi, Road Construction Department Secretary Sandeep Kumar R. Pudukkalkatti, Patna Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Patna DM Dr. Thyagarajan S.M., SSP Kartikeya K. Sharma, along with public representatives, engineers, and other dignitaries.
