Headline: IAF Personnel Sentenced to 20 Years for Decade-Long Abuse of Daughter; Court Slams 'Perverted Sexuality'

A Dehradun court has sentenced an Indian Air Force personnel to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the decade-long sexual abuse of his daughter. Starting when she was just five, the abuse spanned multiple states and involved digital coercion. The court dismissed defense claims, labeling the act a "blot on society" and awarding compensation to the survivor.

In a verdict that underscores the gravity of intra-familial predatory behavior, a special court in Dehradun has sentenced a serving Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the systematic sexual exploitation of his daughter. The conviction marks the end of a harrowing twelve-year ordeal for the victim, who was subjected to continuous abuse starting from the age of five. Special Judge Archana Sagar, while delivering the judgment, described the convict’s actions as a manifestation of "perverted sexuality" and a "blot on society," emphasizing that such heinous acts inflict irreparable damage on a child’s psychological and physical development.

The prosecution’s case detailed a chilling pattern of abuse that spanned multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh (Mathura), Gujarat, and Uttarakhand (Dehradun), following the convict’s various military postings. The victim testified that the exploitation began in early childhood and continued until she reached the age of 17. Even when stationed away from home, the father utilized technology to sustain the abuse, allegedly coercing his daughter via video calls to perform explicit acts under the threat of physical violence. The matter only came to light in November 2023, when the survivor finally confided in her mother, leading to an immediate police report at the Raipur station.

During the trial, the defense sought to challenge the allegations by pointing toward medical reports that noted an intact hymen and a lack of physical injury marks. However, the court summarily rejected these arguments, asserting that the testimony of the survivor was both credible and consistent. Judge Sagar noted that it is contrary to human nature for a daughter to level such grave and stigmatizing allegations against her biological father unless they were true. The court further observed that as the victim matured, her understanding of the violation grew, eventually giving her the courage to break her silence despite the immense domestic pressure.

The delay in reporting the crimes highlighted a tragic socio-economic predicament. The family was burdened by severe medical crises; the victim has two younger brothers—one born with Down syndrome and another battling blood cancer. Both the mother and daughter reportedly endured the father's violence and depravity in silence for years, fearing that a confrontation would jeopardize the financial support required for the boys' life-saving treatments. This cycle of silence was only broken when the survivor reached her breaking point in late 2023.

In addition to the 20-year prison term, the court imposed a fine of ₹25,000 on the convict and directed the state government to provide ₹3 lakh in compensation to the survivor to assist in her rehabilitation. This ruling serves as a stern judicial reminder that professional status offers no immunity against the law, particularly in cases of child sexual abuse. By prioritizing the victim's testimony over technical medical defenses, the court has reinforced the protective framework of the POCSO Act, ensuring that victims of long-term domestic trauma find a pathway to justice.
