Bareilly Police Disrupt Major Crime Syndicates in Year-Long Crackdown

Bareilly Police release their annual report card, highlighting a year of intensive crime control under DIG Ajay Kumar Sahani. With 145 encounters, 340 arrests, and a major crackdown on smuggling and illegal arms, the department showcases its commitment to regional security and the rule of law in Uttar Pradesh.

The Bareilly District Police have concluded a high-intensity year of law enforcement operations, marking a significant shift in the region’s security landscape. In a comprehensive annual performance review released by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajay Kumar Sahani, the department detailed an aggressive campaign against organized crime, highlighted by over a hundred tactical engagements and the dismantling of sophisticated smuggling networks. The report underscores a strategic transition toward active intervention, as the force looks to solidify public safety and deter criminal activity across the district through a zero-tolerance approach.

The operational data reveals a relentless pursuit of fugitive elements, with 145 separate encounters recorded over the past twelve months. These high-stakes confrontations led to the apprehension of 340 suspects, 172 of whom sustained injuries during pursuit or crossfire. Beyond immediate street-level crime, the Bareilly police focused heavily on the illicit trade routes weaving through the state. Law enforcement officials successfully prosecuted 760 smugglers across 425 distinct cases, dealing a substantial blow to the logistics of local contraband networks. This was bolstered by a rigorous crackdown on the proliferation of unlicensed weaponry, resulting in 937 legal proceedings aimed at purging illegal firearms from the streets.

During the briefing, DIG Sahani emphasized that these figures represent more than just statistics; they reflect a proactive stance on maintaining the rule of law. He noted that the strategic deployment of personnel and the use of intelligence-led policing have been pivotal in stabilizing the region's internal security. By targeting both the perpetrators of violence and the underlying infrastructure of the arms and smuggling trades, the department has aimed to create a long-term deterrent against recidivism.

As the district enters a new calendar year, the administration has signaled that this momentum will not wane. The annual report serves as both a testament to the department's recent successes and a blueprint for future operations, with the Bareilly police pledging to sustain this level of vigilance. This shift toward a more assertive policing model suggests a broader institutional goal: to ensure that the district remains a hostile environment for organized syndicates while fostering an atmosphere of safety and accountability for its residents.
