Yogi Adityanath Says 250 Million Indians Have Moved Out of Poverty in 11 Years

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that 250 million people have risen above the poverty line in India over the past 11 years, crediting government welfare schemes, development initiatives, and targeted programs for strengthening the country’s social and economic foundation.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that a significant social transformation has taken place in India over the past decade, with nearly 250 million people rising above the poverty line during the last 11 years.

Addressing the issue of poverty alleviation, the Chief Minister stated that millions who once struggled for basic necessities are now living as mainstream citizens with improved access to essential services and opportunities. He attributed this shift to sustained government efforts aimed at inclusive growth and last-mile delivery of welfare benefits.

According to Adityanath, the progress reflects the cumulative impact of targeted government schemes, development-oriented policies, and structured programs designed to ensure that benefits reach economically weaker sections without leakage or exclusion. These initiatives, he said, have strengthened the country’s social and economic framework by empowering vulnerable populations.

He emphasized that the focus on infrastructure development, social security coverage, and direct support mechanisms has played a key role in reducing poverty levels nationwide. The Chief Minister noted that the approach of combining economic development with welfare delivery has helped bring marginalized communities into the formal system, enabling them to lead dignified lives.
