Mamata Banerjee Blames Centre for Aviation Disruptions, Warns Passengers May Turn to Courts

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accuses the central government of neglecting aviation oversight, claiming nationwide flight disruptions are pushing passengers toward possible legal action. Her remarks underscore growing concerns over delays and cancellations affecting domestic air travel.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sharply criticised the central government, alleging that persistent inaction and mismanagement at the national level are fuelling extensive disruptions across domestic flight networks. Speaking on Monday, she warned that frustrated travellers, repeatedly facing delays and cancellations, may soon be compelled to pursue legal action to safeguard their rights.

Banerjee argued that the ongoing situation reflects a deeper administrative lapse, claiming the Centre has failed to intervene decisively despite the worsening condition of air travel in several parts of the country. She asserted that the mounting inconvenience faced by passengers is a direct result of what she described as negligence by authorities responsible for aviation oversight. According to the Chief Minister, the disruption has reached a point where ordinary travellers are losing confidence in the system and could seek judicial relief if the issues remain unresolved.

Her remarks come amid growing public concern over irregular flight schedules, long waiting periods, and operational uncertainties that have affected airports nationwide. While no formal response from the central government was immediately available, Banerjee’s comments add to the rising political pressure on aviation regulators and the Union administration to restore normalcy and improve service reliability.

As domestic travel continues to swell during peak season, Banerjee called for prompt corrective measures, cautioning that continued delays may trigger widespread legal pushback from the travelling public. The episode highlights the need for coordinated oversight and swift administrative action to ensure dependable flight services and restore public trust in the country’s aviation infrastructure.
