Rajnath Singh Says BRO Embodies India’s Push for Self-Reliance in Strategic Infrastructure
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking in New Delhi, praised the Border Roads Organisation for embodying India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. Highlighting the BRO’s role in strengthening infrastructure across remote areas, including Jammu and Kashmir, he said its work is vital to national security, connectivity and long-term self-reliance.
Singh emphasised that the BRO has evolved into a critical force multiplier for national security and regional development, executing complex projects in some of the harshest geographical conditions. By building and upgrading essential connectivity in strategically sensitive zones, the organisation is not only improving mobility for the armed forces but also enhancing the quality of life for civilian populations living in isolated pockets.
He said the BRO’s commitment to innovative engineering, faster project delivery and greater reliance on indigenous technology demonstrates how infrastructure development can reinforce the broader national goal of self-reliance. The Defence Minister added that strengthening border infrastructure is central to India’s long-term preparedness and resilience, and the BRO’s contribution is pivotal in achieving these objectives.
As India continues to expand its connectivity footprint in frontier areas, Singh’s remarks underline the growing strategic importance of the BRO’s work—work that has become a symbol of both national resolve and development-led security. His comments also reflect the government’s wider push to ensure that key institutions actively contribute to the vision of a more capable, confident and self-sufficient India.
