UP Congress Chief Ajay Rai Visits Hathras, Meets Family of Deceased BLO Amid Questions Over Administrative Lapses

UP Congress president Ajay Rai visited Hathras to meet the family of deceased BLO Kamalkant Sharma, expressing condolences and questioning administrative lapses under the BJP government. His visit sparked political debate and renewed focus on safety concerns for field-level officials in Uttar Pradesh.

Congress’ Uttar Pradesh president Ajay Rai on Monday reached Brahamanpuri in the Sikandra Rao area of Hathras district to meet the family of Kamalkant Sharma, the Booth Level Officer (BLO) whose recent death has stirred concern in the region. Rai spent time with the bereaved family, conveying his condolences and assuring them of the party’s support during what he described as an “unbearable loss.”

During his visit, Rai criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government, alleging that the administration had failed to ensure adequate safety and proper oversight in matters concerning field-level officials like Sharma. He claimed that the circumstances surrounding the BLO’s death required serious attention and pointed to what he termed “systemic negligence” in the prevailing administrative framework.

Rai’s presence in Hathras drew notable response in local political circles, with his remarks adding momentum to ongoing discussions about accountability and the responsibilities of district authorities. His visit not only underscored the political sensitivity surrounding the case but also brought renewed focus on the working conditions and security concerns of government functionaries deployed in rural areas.

As the investigation into Sharma’s death continues, the incident has amplified public debate over governance standards and the need for better protection and support for grassroots officials across Uttar Pradesh.
