Modi–Putin Summit Places Counterterrorism Cooperation at the Forefront

India and Russia intensified their counterterrorism cooperation during the Modi–Putin summit in New Delhi. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said both leaders discussed strategies against emerging threats, including the recent Delhi blast, reaffirming Russia’s long-standing support for India’s security efforts.

India and Russia sharpened their counterterrorism partnership during the latest Modi–Putin summit in New Delhi, with both leaders committing to deeper coordination amid heightened security concerns. The high-level dialogue, held in the capital, centered on strategies to combat emerging terror threats and reinforce bilateral security mechanisms.

Responding to media queries on the recent Delhi blast and other related risks, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said the two heads of state held an extensive exchange on strengthening joint efforts against terrorism. He emphasized that Russia has consistently supported India in its fight against extremist networks and continues to play a critical role in intelligence and security cooperation.

According to Misri, the summit served as a key platform to refine shared approaches, assess evolving challenges, and fortify operational collaboration between the two nations’ security establishments. Officials described the discussions as constructive, underscoring the enduring strategic alignment between New Delhi and Moscow on issues of regional and global security.

As India confronts expanding terror vulnerabilities at home and abroad, the renewed commitment from Russia is expected to bolster long-term counterterrorism capabilities. The summit, officials noted, reaffirms the geopolitical significance of the India–Russia partnership at a time when coordinated action against global terrorism remains essential.
