Gunshot-Injured Cattle-Smuggling Suspect Hospitalized After Reported Police Encounter in Azamgarh

A cattle-smuggling suspect identified as Parvez was critically injured in an alleged police encounter in Azamgarh and hospitalized with gunshot wounds. Doctors discovered bullet injuries after being told he was hurt in a road accident. Police claim to have recovered 18 animals during the operation as inquiries continue.

A man identified by police as Parvez, alleged to be involved in cattle smuggling, was taken to a district hospital in Azamgarh after sustaining serious injuries during what authorities described as an encounter. The episode took a dramatic turn when doctors, initially informed that the patient had suffered injuries in a road accident, discovered bullet wounds during examination.

According to officials, Parvez was struck by two to three rounds during the exchange that allegedly unfolded when police attempted to intercept him. His condition has been described as critical, prompting an immediate medical intervention. Hospital staff were reportedly surprised to find gunshot injuries inconsistent with the account provided at the time of admission, leading to a clarification request that eventually brought the encounter details to light.

Police maintain that Parvez is linked with an active cattle-smuggling network operating in the region. During the operation, officers claimed to have recovered a total of 18 animals, which they say were being transported illegally. Authorities have not released further information on whether additional suspects were involved or if further arrests are anticipated.

The incident has raised questions about procedural transparency, particularly regarding the initial communication between police and medical personnel. As investigations continue and Parvez remains under intensive care, the case underscores ongoing challenges law-enforcement agencies face in tackling organized smuggling operations while adhering to established reporting protocols.
