Patna, August 6: In a groundbreaking move, the Bihar Police has initiated basic training for 21,391 newly recruited constables from July 21, 2025 — the largest police training batch in the state’s history. This 9-month training program marks a significant administrative and logistical challenge, which the state government is addressing through several innovative steps.
🍽️ Jeevika Didis to Manage Meal Services
For the first time, meal management during police training has been entrusted to ‘Jeevika Didis’, women associated with Bihar’s self-help group initiative. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the police headquarters and Jeevika to formalize this arrangement. This not only ensures efficient food service but also promotes women’s empowerment at the grassroots level.
👮♂️ Men, Women, and Transgender Recruits Included
According to ADG (Training) Sanjay Kumar Singh, the 2025 training batch includes:
-
10,207 male constables
-
11,176 female constables
-
8 transgender constables (including 5 trans women and 3 trans men)
All recruits, regardless of gender identity, will receive the same level of rigorous and professional training.
🎓 1,500 Trainers Deployed, Allowances to Increase
To train such a large batch, 1,500 police trainers have been deployed across various centers. Currently, they receive a 12% training allowance as per the 6th Pay Commission. However, a proposal has been submitted to raise this allowance to 20%, acknowledging their crucial role in this massive effort.
📍 Training Across the State at Multiple Centers
Training is being conducted across district training centers, Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP) battalions, as well as national paramilitary institutions like CRPF and SSB.
At the CRPF training center in Badh, women constables are undergoing specialized and more intensive training, tailored to enhance their physical and tactical capabilities.
📘 Revamped Curriculum with Modern Relevance
A newly designed training compendium has been rolled out, incorporating over 70% changes to the previous syllabus. The curriculum now aligns with the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and includes:
-
Updated protocols for raids
-
Proper procedures for use of handcuffs
-
Legal frameworks for arrest and detainment
-
Practical training in field-level operations and law enforcement
🎯 Mission: Build a Modern, Responsive Police Force
The updated syllabus aims to equip the recruits with in-depth legal understanding, real-time decision-making skills, and operational readiness to face 21st-century policing challenges. The training also focuses on instilling a sense of responsibility, discipline, and public accountability in the force.
This unprecedented training initiative is being hailed as a milestone in Bihar’s policing history, promising to build a stronger, smarter, and more inclusive police force for the state.
