Bihar Police Launches Its Largest-Ever Training Drive
21,391 Recruits to Begin Training from July 21
This year’s recruitment exceeds all previous records, with 10,207 male and 11,176 female recruits, including 8 transgender personnel, selected to serve in the state police. Additionally, 1,060 previously appointed constables who had not yet undergone basic training will also be part of this program, bringing the total to over 22,300 police personnel being trained simultaneously — an unprecedented logistical challenge.

Patna, Bihar – In a historic move, the Bihar Police Department is set to begin basic training for 21,391 newly appointed constables starting July 21, 2025. This marks the largest training exercise ever conducted in the state's policing history.
Statewide Training Centres Established
To facilitate this massive training operation, the Bihar Police Training Directorate has evaluated available resources and designated 33 districts, 15 units of the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP), and several Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) locations as temporary training centres.
Training distribution is as follows:
-
8,965 male recruits will undergo training at district centres.
-
10,499 female recruits will be trained at BSAP centres.
-
The CRPF units in Chandauli and Mokama will train 614 male and 685 female recruits from BSAP.
-
628 male recruits will be trained at SSB battalions in Bagaha, Bettiah, and Sitamarhi.
Trainers and Instructor Support
To support this extensive initiative, the state will deploy 490 internal instructors and 980 external instructors. The internal trainers have already completed an orientation program at the Bihar Police Academy in Rajgir. All instructors are currently entitled to 12% training allowance, and a proposal to increase it to 20% has been submitted for approval.
New Curriculum for a New Era
Considering the implementation of three new criminal laws in 2024, the department has developed a revised training curriculum divided into three parts, comprising over 1,100 pages. This updated syllabus incorporates modern policing topics, technological advancements, and legal reforms. A free copy of the curriculum will be distributed to each trainee.
Budget & Meal Management
To ensure smooth functioning, a dedicated training budget head has been created for all centres. Additionally, for proper food management during training, the Police Headquarters has signed an MoU with JEEVIKA, a state-supported livelihood mission, to handle mess operations across all centres.
This mega training drive not only reflects the state’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement but also sets a benchmark for mass police training operations in India. As Bihar moves forward with its largest recruitment training program to date, it aims to equip its new constables with the knowledge, discipline, and skills required for modern policing.
