The state government will also send ministers to the field to inspect affected areas. According to Chief Minister Fadnavis, this will help speed up the process of delivering assistance to farmers.
The state Cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, during which important decisions were taken by the Urban Development, Housing and Agriculture departments.
Under the Relief and Rehabilitation Department, the Cabinet approved the formation of the Cabinet sub-committee for drought relief measures. The Revenue Minister will head the committee, which will have full authority to take decisions required from time to time. A preliminary notification is scheduled to be issued by Saturday. Ministers will visit the field and inspect the situation, with the move aimed at accelerating the delivery of assistance to farmers.
Under the Urban Development Department, approval was granted to allot developed plots with ownership rights to project-affected farmers from Mouje Mogharpada whose land was provided for the integrated car shed depot for Mumbai Metro Lines 4, 4A and 10. Farmers from Survey No. 30 at Mogharpada will receive developed plots at 22.5 per cent and 12.5 per cent.
The Cabinet also approved the group redevelopment of MHADA buildings in Ramakrishnanagar in Khar (West), Mumbai. The old and dilapidated buildings in the area will undergo group redevelopment to ensure that residents receive quality infrastructure facilities.
In another decision under the Urban Development Department, approval was granted to cancel the reservation for a playground and garden on Survey No. 103 at Mouje Devpur, Taluka Dhule, within the limits of Dhule Municipal Corporation under the approved development plan of Dhule city. The land will instead be included in the Public-Semi-Public zone.
The Cabinet also cancelled the revised staffing structure of the Agriculture Department. The approved staffing structure of 2009 will remain temporarily in force. A comprehensive review will be undertaken before submitting a fresh proposal for the revised staffing structure. The review will cover the Agriculture Department’s workload, available manpower, vacant posts, requirements across various cadres, the needs of the field machinery, the workload of farmer-centric schemes and future administrative requirements.
The decisions taken by the state Cabinet cover drought relief, farmer assistance, urban development, housing redevelopment and the administrative structure of the Agriculture Department, with the government setting out measures for both immediate field-level intervention and further administrative review.
