Kia Charges into the Compact Market: All-New EV2 SUV Makes Global Debut in Brussels

Kia unveils the all-new EV2 compact electric SUV at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show. Explore Kia's smallest electric SUV and the new performance GT lineup revealed in Brussels

BRUSSELS – Kia has officially expanded its electric ambitions into the heart of the urban B-SUV segment, pulling the covers off the all-new EV2 at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show. Marking the global premiere of the brand’s sixth dedicated electric model, the EV2 is a strategic play to capture both first-time EV buyers and city dwellers seeking a blend of premium technology and compact practicality.

Designed under Kia’s "Opposites United" philosophy, the EV2 manages to project a confident, full-sized SUV stance despite its nimble 4.06-meter footprint. The exterior is defined by an upright silhouette, pronounced wheel arches, and the company's signature "Star Map" vertical lighting. For those seeking a sharper edge, a GT Line variant was also showcased, featuring aggressive bumpers, body-colored accents, and unique 19-inch wheels that elevate the model's road presence.

The interior of the EV2 introduces the "Picnic Box" concept, a design approach focused on creating a "cozy personal space" amidst the chaos of urban life. The cabin is centered around a panoramic triple-screen array—a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 5.3-inch climate panel, and a 12.3-inch infotainment display. To maximize utility, Kia has integrated sliding and reclining rear seats that offer up to 958 mm of legroom. Cargo flexibility is equally impressive, with a boot capacity of 403 liters and a class-leading front trunk (frunk) for additional storage.

Under the skin, the EV2 offers two distinct powertrain configurations tailored for different needs. The Standard Range model features a 42.2 kWh battery pack delivering up to 317 km (WLTP), while the Long Range variant utilizes a 61.0 kWh battery to achieve a claimed 448 km on a single charge. Both versions support rapid DC charging, capable of replenishing the battery from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 29 to 30 minutes.

Beyond the EV2, Kia signaled a broader commitment to high-performance electrification by debuting new GT variants for the EV3, EV4 Hatchback, and EV5. These performance-oriented models feature dual-motor AWD systems and GT-exclusive drive modes, showcasing the brand's ability to scale its performance DNA across its entire electric portfolio.

Production of the Kia EV2 is scheduled to commence at the Žilina plant in Slovakia in the first quarter of 2026. As Kia targets high-volume sales globally, the EV2 represents more than just a new entry-level model; it is a critical gateway designed to democratize advanced electric mobility, bringing features like bidirectional V2L charging and sophisticated ADAS technologies to the most competitive segment of the market.
