UP to Enhance Security for Ambedkar Statues, Announces Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered full security measures for all statues of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar across the state. The directive aims to protect culturally significant monuments, prevent vandalism, and reinforce the government’s commitment to preserving the legacy of the Constitution’s principal architect.
According to the Chief Minister, heightened protection is essential not only to prevent acts of vandalism but also to uphold the dignity attached to symbols honouring Dr. Ambedkar. He emphasised that these statues represent a vital legacy tied to equality, constitutional rights, and the broader social reform movement in India. Administrative departments and local police units have been asked to assess existing security measures and make necessary improvements to ensure uninterrupted vigilance.
Officials indicated that the directive aims to reinforce public confidence and preserve cultural and historical markers that hold deep significance for millions of people across the state. The move is expected to prompt district authorities to undertake immediate reviews of sensitive sites and coordinate with law-enforcement agencies to maintain strict surveillance.
The Chief Minister’s decision reflects the government’s broader stance on protecting heritage structures and public monuments, particularly those linked with key national reformers. With this push, the state signals its intent to maintain order, prevent disruptions, and honour the memory of Dr. Ambedkar through stronger institutional safeguards.
