Washington–Kyiv Dialogue Intensifies as Zelensky Seeks Clarity on Putin Talks
Ukraine continues high-level outreach in the U.S. as President Zelensky confirms talks with Donald Trump’s team to understand discussions between Trump and Vladimir Putin. Kyiv seeks clarity on Moscow’s intentions while stressing the need for a dignified, secure peace backed by international partners.
In a statement, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is determined to learn whether Moscow presented any new pretexts to prolong the conflict or exert fresh pressure on Kyiv. Such insight, Ukrainian officials argue, is vital for assessing future security risks and anticipating strategic shifts by the Kremlin.
Zelensky underscored that Ukraine remains prepared for “every possible scenario” as the war approaches another critical phase. He reiterated that Kyiv will continue engaging constructively with all its international partners, including American political actors across the spectrum, to safeguard mutual interests and uphold regional stability.
The Ukrainian president also stressed that any resolution to the war must meet one central condition: it must be a “dignified peace.” Only an outcome that ensures Ukraine’s sovereignty and long-term security, he said, can form the basis of a sustainable settlement. Achieving such a peace, Zelensky noted, has been possible only through the consistent support of Ukraine’s allies—and that support will remain indispensable as diplomatic efforts move forward.
As Kyiv navigates complex global dynamics and heightened geopolitical uncertainty, the continued dialogue with U.S. stakeholders reflects Ukraine’s broader strategy to maintain transparency, bolster alliances, and counter any narrative emerging from Moscow. The outcome of these exchanges may prove pivotal in defining how the international community approaches the conflict in the months ahead.
