Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini met Canada’s High Commissioner Christopher Cooter in Chandigarh to advance investment cooperation. The talks explored opportunities for skilled youth, waste-to-energy projects, and partnerships with Canadian universities and enterprises, signalling a renewed push for deeper bilateral engagement.

In a bid to strengthen cross-border economic engagement, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini on Monday held a high-level meeting in Chandigarh with Canada’s High Commissioner to India, Christopher Cooter. The discussion set the stage for expanding investment cooperation between Haryana and Canada, with both sides expressing intent to accelerate joint initiatives across sectors central to future growth.

According to officials, the meeting focused on advancing opportunities for skilled youth, fostering partnerships in waste-to-energy projects, and exploring deeper academic and enterprise collaborations with Canadian universities and investors. The two leaders emphasised the importance of sustained dialogue to unlock emerging avenues for trade, innovation, and sustainable development.

Chief Minister Saini highlighted Haryana’s commitment to building a supportive climate for foreign investment and underscored the state’s focus on technology-driven sectors. High Commissioner Cooter welcomed the state’s proactive approach and called for expanded engagement to align Canadian capabilities with Haryana’s economic priorities.

The conversation, described as constructive and forward-looking, signalled a renewed push to diversify investment channels and strengthen institutional ties.
