CM Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Development Projects Worth ₹1203 Crore in Chhapra, Interacts with Beneficiaries
Key Projects Inaugurated
Among the major projects unveiled were:

Construction of a 400/220/132 KV Grid Substation in Chhapra and 132 KV transmission line at a cost of ₹545.90 crore.

HTLS reconductoring work worth ₹60.01 crore.

Widening of the Ekma–Mashrakh road costing ₹93.62 crore.

Widening of the Ekma–Dumaigarh road at ₹41.66 crore.
-
Widening of the NH-19 Chhapra section for ₹89.95 crore.

Widening of the Khaira–Bin Tolia road at ₹40.53 crore.
-
Construction of five 33 KV line bays at Ekma, Sheetalpur, and Mashrakh grid substations costing ₹7.17 crore.
Inspection and Development Benefits
Before the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected the road widening work from Jagdam College to Khaira Bin Tolia. He said that once completed, this project would reduce traffic congestion in Chhapra city and boost urban development. The upcoming bus stand at Bin Tolia will also have improved road connectivity.
Interaction with Beneficiaries
At the venue, CM Nitish Kumar interacted with pension beneficiaries, Jeevika Didis (self-help group women), and others.

Pensioners expressed gratitude for the increase in pensions from ₹400 to ₹1100 per month.

Local residents highlighted the benefit of 125 units of free electricity, helping them save money for other needs.

Jeevika Didis praised the government’s efforts in women’s empowerment through self-help groups and noted that they now receive loans at just 7% interest.

Mamta sisters and ASHA workers thanked the government for doubling and tripling their incentive amounts respectively.

Artists appreciated the ₹3000 monthly pension under the Artist Pension Scheme, while home guards welcomed the increase in daily allowances.
CM’s Address
Speaking on the occasion, Nitish Kumar recalled how the state government introduced self-help groups in 2006 with World Bank assistance.
"At that time, there were hardly any SHGs in Bihar. We started with the name ‘Jeevika’ and today, you are all known as Jeevika Didis. Inspired by our model, the central government later implemented a similar program across India under the name ‘Aajeevika’. You must continue to progress with confidence; the government will support you in every possible way."

The event was attended by Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Energy and Planning & Development Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal, MLA Dr. C.N. Gupta, MLC Virendra Narayan Yadav, and several other public representatives.
Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, DGP Vineet Kumar, Principal Secretary to CM Deepak Kumar, District Magistrate Aman Sameer, Saran Commissioner Rajeev Roushan, and other senior officials were also present along with a large number of beneficiaries and local citizens.
