Bihar’s Dial-112 Completes Three Years, Over 43 Lakh Citizens Provided Emergency Help
Patna, July 6, 2025 – Bihar’s Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) – Dial-112 has successfully completed three years of continuous service, providing emergency assistance to over 43 lakh citizens since its inception.
Quick Response Across the State
Currently, 1833 Police Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) — including 1283 four-wheelers and 550 two-wheelers — are providing 24x7 emergency services across the state.
On average, emergency help reaches citizens within 14 minutes 30 seconds, making Bihar’s Dial-112 one of the most responsive emergency services in the country.
A Single Helpline for All Emergencies
Developed as a single emergency helpline, Dial-112 integrates multiple services for citizens, including:

Fire safety
-
Ambulance and highway patrolling

Women and child safety
-
Disaster response and other urgent needs
Citizens can access Dial-112 services anytime, anywhere in Bihar by simply dialing 112, sending an SMS, using SOS, or through the ERSS web portal.
Women Empowerment Through Dial-112
Under the government’s women empowerment initiative, the call-taking center of Dial-112 is operated entirely by trained women police personnel, ensuring sensitive handling of cases.
“Safe Travel Facility” for Women
A special Safe Travel Facility was launched on September 5, 2024, making Bihar the third state in India to offer such a service.
Its primary aim is to ensure that women traveling alone can reach their destinations safely.
So far, 165 women have availed this facility, which is steadily gaining trust among citizens.
Impact in Three Years
In the last three years, Dial-112 has addressed:

3.75 lakh+ cases of domestic violence, crimes against women, and child-related issues

22.10 lakh+ cases of local disputes, assaults, and violent clashes

1.95 lakh+ road accident cases, providing timely medical aid and saving lives

1.18 lakh+ fire incidents, where fire brigade teams were dispatched promptly to protect lives and property
Daily Assistance
With an average response time of 14 minutes 30 seconds, over 6,500 citizens receive emergency support every single day through Dial-112 in Bihar.
