Bihar Emerging as the Next Big Logistics Hub
Bihar Industrial Incentive Policy 2016 Benefits Also Applicable
Patna, August 12:
In a bid to boost the development and investment in the logistics sector, the Industries Department of the Bihar government has implemented the Bihar Logistics Policy 2023. This policy offers a host of significant benefits to investors and entrepreneurs, positioning Bihar to become one of India’s leading logistics hubs.
Financial Incentives for Logistics Units
Under the Bihar Logistics Policy 2023, investors making fixed capital investments in the state will receive a capital investment subsidy. This includes a grant of 20% of the fixed capital investment, with a maximum limit of ₹25 crore. Additionally, specific incentives are provided for different facilities:
-
Inland Container Depot: Up to ₹10 crore
-
Warehouses: Up to ₹6 crore
-
Cold Chain Facilities: Up to ₹4 crore
-
Container Freight Stations: Up to ₹3 crore
Interest Subsidy Provisions
The policy also includes a 10% annual interest subsidy for investors. This subsidy will be available on up to 50% of the fixed capital investment, with a maximum ceiling of ₹30 crore.
Benefits of Previous Policies Continue
Entrepreneurs investing in the state under the Bihar Logistics Policy 2023 will also be eligible for all the benefits offered under the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Policy 2016. This means that investors will not only gain from the new incentives but will also enjoy the advantages of the 2016 policy, including support for multi-modal logistics parks.
Special Incentives for Marginalized Groups
Special provisions have been made for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), women, persons with disabilities, war widows, acid attack survivors, and members of the third gender. For these groups, the interest subsidy rate will be 11.5%. Additionally, the limits for capital grant and interest subsidy will be up to 15% higher than the general category.
With such attractive incentives, the Bihar government aims to accelerate infrastructure growth, attract large-scale investments, and firmly place the state on the logistics map of India.
