Savle, 33, had worked as an accountant at the textile market until he quit in 2026, citing harassment claims and Rs 10,000 in unpaid salary. On the night of September 8-9, CCTV footage captured him dousing parcels outside his former employer’s shop with Rs 150 worth of petrol before fleeing the scene.
The fire subsequently ravaged 14-17 shops in the market. Traders suffered losses ranging from Rs 2 crore to Rs 12 crore, turning the dispute over unpaid wages into a major financial setback for businesses operating in the market.
Police later arrested Savle in Dindoli after tracing his movements through Rajasthan and Ayodhya. During questioning, he told police that he wanted to teach the owner a lesson about the value of money.
