State Government Securities Auction Results Released by RBI as Borrowing Plans Advance

RBI releases results of the September 22, 2026 auction of state government securities, while detailed data on securities, yields and bidder response is expected after further analysis.

The Reserve Bank of India has released the results of the yield- and price-based auction of state government securities held on September 22, 2026, providing an update on the borrowing process being undertaken to meet the financial requirements of the respective state governments.

The auction forms part of the broader government borrowing programme, under which states raise funds through market-based issuance of government securities.

According to the RBI’s official release, the auction results have been announced, while detailed data on the specific securities included in the auction, their yields and bidder response will be available following further analysis. For now, the central bank has released the results, with greater clarity on detailed market indicators expected later.

State government securities auctions remain a key mechanism for states to raise funds for capital expenditure and other public spending. Through this process, state governments gain access to market-based borrowing, while investors get an opportunity to invest in sub-national debt instruments within a sovereign framework.

The mechanism also supports the broader objective of inclusive financial development, according to the central bank. At the same time, such auctions play an important role in maintaining adequate liquidity and balancing credit flows in the economy.
