BHOPAL: The political landscape in Madhya Pradesh has intensified following a scathing attack by State Congress President Jitu Patwari against the ruling administration over its handling of the recent Indore tragedy. In a stern rebuff of the government’s stance, Patwari accused the state leadership of gross negligence and systemic corruption, which he claims directly resulted in the loss of over 20 lives. The Congress veteran expressed deep indignation over Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s purported reluctance to address the specific death toll, characterizing the executive's attitude as not only irresponsible but fundamentally "insensitive" to the plight of the grieving families.

The controversy erupted after the Chief Minister allegedly stated he did not wish to delve into the statistics of the fatalities. Patwari, addressing the media in the state capital, argued that such remarks equate to "rubbing salt into the wounds" of those who have lost their loved ones in the avoidable disaster. He further asserted that under the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tenure, the core values of administrative empathy, public safety, and accountability have been completely eroded. Patwari’s critique paints a picture of a government more concerned with optics than with the gravity of human loss, suggesting a breakdown in the moral fabric of the state's leadership.

Demanding immediate systemic accountability, the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief called for a high-level, impartial investigation into the lapses that led to the incident. Beyond the rhetoric, Patwari insisted that the state must move beyond mere condolences and ensure that those found guilty of negligence face the full force of the law. He emphasized that justice for the victims' families remains the priority, urging the administration to provide substantial compensation and support. This political face-off underscores a growing tension regarding public safety standards in the state, turning the Indore tragedy into a focal point for demands for administrative reform and transparent governance.
