Apollo Tyres named new jersey sponsor of Indian cricket team till 2027
Apollo Tyres will pay Rs 4.5 crore per match to the BCCI, surpassing Dream11's earlier amount of Rs 4 crore. India will play as many as 130 international fixtures with the tyre manufacturer as their jersey sponsors and this partnership is set to mark one of the most lucrative sponsorship agreements in Indian cricket in recent years.
Coming back to the online gaming bill, the partnership between BCCI and Dream11 had to be discontinued under the online gaming bill. The ban on real money gaming has impacted the revenue of all fantasy gaming companies and even the BCCI clearly stated that the real money gaming companies and the betting companies are not allowed to apply for the jersey sponsorship.
What about the Indian Women's team?
Meanwhile, it is still not clear if the Indian Women's team will also wear jerseys sponsored by Apollo Tyres in the upcoming World Cup, that is scheduled to get underway from September 30.
Team India is playing without a sponsor in the Asia Cup
Team India is currently in action in the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates and playing without any sponsor on the jersey. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had very little time to arrange for a new sponsor then, but now the Indian team will start their new home season in October with Apollo Tyres as their jersey sponsors.
