India successfully test-fires Agni-5 intermediate-range ballistic missile from Chandipur
A long-range, nuclear-capable ballistic missile, the Agni-5 is developed by India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). This is the most advanced missile in the Agni series, a family of surface-to-surface ballistic missiles that form the backbone of India's land-based nuclear deterrent.
The Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile ‘Agni 5’ is designed with modern navigation, guidance, warhead, and engine technologies that can enhance its strike capability and accuracy.

- Agni-5 Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile is a land based nuclear MIRV-capable missile developed by India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- This missile is designed for nuclear use and has a range exceeding 5,000 kilometres. In June 2025, it was reported that DRDO is working to make Agi-5, expanding its range to 7,500 kilometres.
- The Agni-5 Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile missile is capable of firing three warheads simultaneously.
- The other new variants of Agni-5, which are currently under development, will also focus on the addition of bunker-buster bomb technology to the missile.
