Rawalpindi Stadium suffers damage after drone attack, triggers PSL schedule changes

New Delhi:

The Rawalpindi Stadium has been hit by drones and has suffered significant damage. For the same reason, all the remaining matches of the ongoing Pakistan Super League have been shifted to Karachi. According to reports, a drone had hit the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium premises earlier in the day, which prompted the Pakistan Cricket Board to change the venue of the remaining matches of the PSL. Peshawar Zalmi was set to play Karachi Kings on May 8, but due to the new development, the match has been moved.

PCB are expected to host the remaining matches in Karachi but they are also keeping international options in mind. Dubai are Doha are reportedly two other venues that the board are considering for the remaining ten matches. Notably, yesterday, the board confirmed that the PSL matches will continue as planned but the drone strike on May 8 changed the plans.

The Indian government, meanwhile, hasn’t issued any statement regarding the drone attack in Rawalpindi. The army forces, however, noted that Pakistan forces have launched several attacks in Jammu and Punjab last night and they have taken measures of the attack. In the meantime, BCCI is set to change the venue of the Indian Premier League matches that were scheduled to take place in Dharamshala.

The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, however, will go as per schedule, which is slated to take place on May 8. After that, Punjab will be playing their game against Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The rest of the IPL matches will go according to the schedule, without any change in venue.
