NEW DELHI — In a calculated display of military transparency and strategic signaling, the Indian Army has released declassified footage of "Operation Sindoor," documenting a series of precision strikes against hostile positions and military infrastructure across the border. Timed strategically on the eve of India’s Republic Day, the high-octane visual brief provides a rare glimpse into the significant tactical damage inflicted upon Pakistani military assets and forward air bases. While the release serves as a testament to the Army's evolving combat capabilities, official sources clarified that the operation remains "active and ongoing," suggesting that the current maneuvers are part of a broader, sustained campaign rather than a singular retaliatory event.

The footage, which has since dominated national security discourse, showcases a sophisticated coordination of intelligence and firepower. Military analysts interpret the timing of this disclosure as a dual-purpose maneuver: it functions as both a reassurance of domestic security during a high-profile national holiday and a direct, uncompromising warning to regional adversaries against any attempts at cross-border misadventure. By broadcasting the tangible consequences of recent provocations, the Indian military establishment is reinforcing a doctrine of "credible deterrence," signaling that future transgressions will be met with increasingly disproportionate costs.

Beyond the immediate tactical gains, the official narrative surrounding Operation Sindoor highlights a refined level of operational readiness. The Army’s statement accompanying the video emphasizes that the mission’s objectives are being met with meticulous accuracy, aiming to neutralize threats before they can manifest into domestic security breaches. As the nation prepares for its annual showcase of military strength in the capital, this real-world application of force underscores a shift toward proactive border management. The ongoing nature of the operation suggests that Indian forces are maintaining a high state of alert, with the declassified material serving as a stark reminder of the shifting dynamics along the Line of Control and the sophisticated tech-integrated warfare now being employed by the Indian armed forces.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has registered a case in connection with the incident and taken the auto-rickshaw driver into custody.

Preliminary assessment by railway officials has pointed to a serious lapse in safety arrangements at the station, where a temporary road built for construction purposes leading to the platform had not been properly barricaded or closed.

This allowed unauthorised access to the platform area, ultimately resulting in the accident.

The incident occurred late on Tuesday night when the auto-rickshaw, driven by a man from Kallambalam, entered the station premises through the temporary access road.

The road had been constructed to transport materials for platform widening works at Akathumuri station.

The auto-rickshaw reportedly reached the platform and then toppled onto the tracks.

Moments later, the Vande Bharat Express, which was passing through the station, collided with the vehicle lying on the track.

Railway officials said the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

He has been identified as Sudhi, a resident of Kallambalam, and was taken into RPF custody for questioning.

According to officials, the driver claimed that he had lost his way and accidentally entered the construction access road.

Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident.

Railways said the accident could have had grave consequences, but the disaster was averted due to timely braking and the absence of passengers or railway staff on the track at the time.

Train traffic on the route was disrupted for around one and a half hours following the accident as safety checks and clearance operations were carried out.

Southern Railway officials rushed to the spot and conducted a detailed inspection.

Authorities confirmed that neither the track nor the Vande Bharat train suffered any damage.

The auto-rickshaw was later removed from the track, and normal train services were restored.

The Railways have said a detailed inquiry is underway to fix responsibility for the safety lapse, including the failure to restrict access to the temporary road during construction activities.

Hari Kumar (as per the draft, Admiral D. K. Tripathi) stated that Operation Sindoor remains active and that the country’s tri-service preparedness is progressing in a coordinated manner. Speaking at a press briefing in New Delhi, the Admiral underscored the Indian Navy’s expanding strategic role as the armed forces deepen operational synergy across domains.

Addressing reporters, Admiral Tripathi emphasized that the joint military exercise Trishul served as a key platform for integrated combat readiness, with the Navy taking the lead in several operational segments. He noted that the drill reflected a significant degree of interoperability among the Army, Navy, and Air Force—an essential requirement given the evolving regional security environment.

The Navy Chief further explained that work on future doctrines is ongoing, aimed at refining the armed forces’ long-term strategy, enhancing maritime response capability, and strengthening coordinated action during complex missions. The progress under Operation Sindoor, he added, demonstrates India’s resolve to maintain a high state of alert and preparedness across all strategic theatres.

As India continues to calibrate its defence outlook, the Admiral’s remarks underscore a broader shift toward integrated operations and forward-looking strategic planning. The ongoing efforts highlight the country’s commitment to bolstering joint-force capability and ensuring that the Navy remains a central pillar in safeguarding national security interests.

India's Operation Sindoor has marked a significant evolution in India's military prowess, as it came as a calibrated military response to an evolving pattern of asymmetric warfare. The Indian response to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism was deliberate, precise, and strategic. Indian forces, without crossing the Line of Control or international boundary, struck terrorist infrastructure and eliminated multiple threats.

Beyond tactical brilliance, what stood out for India was the seamless integration of indigenous hi-tech systems into national defence. India proved its considerable edge in drone warfare, layered air defence, or electronic warfare. Operation SINDOOR marks a milestone in India’s journey towards technological self-reliance in military operations.

In a press release, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) said, "On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India, including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) Grid and Air Defence systems."

"The Indian Air Force bypassed and jammed Pakistan’s Chinese-supplied air defence systems, completing the mission in just 23 minutes, demonstrating India’s technological edge," the press release added.

Operation SINDOOR also produced concrete evidence of hostile technologies neutralized by Indian systems:

Pieces of PL-15 missiles (of Chinese origin)

Turkish-origin UAVs, named "Yiha" or "YEEHAW"

Long-range rockets, quadcopters and commercial drones

As part of Operation SINDOOR, the following were used-

Battle-proven AD (Air Defence) systems like the Pechora, OSA-AK and LLAD guns (Low-level air defence guns), Indigenous systems such as the AKASH, which demonstrated stellar performance.

AKASH is a Short Range Surface to Air Missile system to protect vulnerable areas and vulnerable points from air attacks. The AKASH Weapon System can simultaneously engage Multiple Targets in Group Mode or Autonomous Mode. It has built-in Electronic Counter-Counter Measures (ECCM) features. The entire weapon system has been configured on mobile platforms.

India's offensive strikes targeted key Pakistani airbases- Noor Khan and Rahimyar Khan with surgical precision. Loitering munitions were used to devastating effect, each finding and destroying high-value targets, including enemy radar and missile systems.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday morning visited the Adampur Air Base in Punjab. During his visit to the Adampur Air Base, the Prime Minister was briefed by Air Force officers and interacted with the personnel involved in the operation.

Watch video here

PM Modi was received by Air Commodore Ajay Chaudhry at the Adampur Air Base, which falls under the Western Air Command of the Indian Air Force. Several operations, including Operation Sindoor, were led by the Western Air Command, with Air Marshal Jeetendra Chaudhry, the Western Air Command Chief, overseeing the missions in coordination with the Chief of Air Staff.

The Western Air Command is one of the most critical operational commands of the Indian Air Force, covering a vast and strategic region — from Jammu and Kashmir to Rajasthan, including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Western Uttar Pradesh. This region includes some of the most sensitive borders and forward airbases, making it the nerve centre for any aerial military action involving Pakistan.

Modi's visit comes after days of intense conflict between India and Pakistan following the Indian airstrikes conducted by the Indian Armed Forces on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) during the night of May 6–7 under Operation Sindoor. Indian strikes on terror sites in the neighbouring country on May 7 under Operation Sindoor. On May 10, both countries agreed to halt further military actions. However, India has firmly stated that this is only a pause, not an end to its operations, and that any future course of action will depend entirely on Pakistan’s conduct moving forward.

Very special experience: PM Modi

Sharing the pictures from his visit, in an X post, PM Modi said, "Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation."

PM Modi saluted the Armed Forces in address to the nation

Earlier on Monday, in his first national address since the launch of Operation Sindoor, PM Modi strongly condemned terrorism and issued a stark warning to Pakistan, emphasising that India has drawn a new line in its fight against cross-border terror. He dedicated the bravery of India’s armed forces to the women of the nation, while also reaffirming India’s firm resolve against terror. Praising the courage and determination of India’s military, Modi said, "Our brave soldiers have shown unparalleled valor in achieving the objectives of Operation Sindoor. Today, I dedicate their courage, their bravery, and their heroism to them. I also dedicate this heroism to every mother, sister, and daughter of our nation."

Modi also extended his gratitude to India’s intelligence agencies and scientists, saying, "We have seen the country's capabilities and self-restraint in the last few days. First of all, I would like to salute our armed forces, intelligence and our scientists on behalf of every citizen."

Operation Sindoor: India strikes back with precision

It should be noted here that India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a strong retaliation to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. The precision strikes targeted multiple terrorist bases deep inside Pakistan. In response, Pakistan attempted to hit back on May 8, 9, and 10—but was met with a fierce and calculated counteroffensive by Indian armed forces. The intense four-day exchange of drone and missile fire caused significant damage to Pakistan's military infrastructure. Eventually, a desperate Islamabad sought a ceasefire, and hostilities were paused following a conversation between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both nations.

This development comes shortly after security agencies put up posters featuring three Pakistani terrorists — Adil Hussain Thoker, Ali Bhai, and Hashim Musa — who are suspected to have played a key role in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Such posters were seen in different parts of southern Kashmir, including Shopian district. According to the posters, a bounty of Rs 20 lakh has been announced for information leading to the neutralisation of terrorists. The poster also states that Kashmir is united in the war against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

Earlier, security agencies released the sketches of three men suspected of being involved in the terror attack. The men, all Pakistanis, are Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah and Abu Talha, officials said. They had code names Moosa, Yunus and Asif and were involved in terror-related incidents in Poonch.

After four days of intense cross-border hostilities, India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday, bringing temporary relief to both nations. However, the brief but high-impact conflict showcased the strength and effectiveness of India’s indigenously developed military technology on the global stage.

Indian armed forces not only inflicted significant damage on Pakistani military installations — as confirmed by satellite imagery and even acknowledged by Pakistani authorities — but did so primarily using domestically produced weaponry. At a joint press conference following the ceasefire, the chiefs of India’s Army, Navy, and Air Force emphasised India’s preparedness and warned that any future provocation would be met with swift and decisive retaliation.

Here’s a look at the key indigenous weapons systems that played a critical role in Operation Sindoor:

Akash missile system

The Akash surface-to-air missile defense system, developed in India, proved highly effective in neutralising Pakistani drone incursions along the western border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. On the nights of May 8 and 9, the Akash system successfully intercepted multiple drones, ensuring no damage to Indian military positions.

D4 Anti-drone system

DRDO’s D4 (Detect, Deter, Destroy) anti-drone system, manufactured by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), played a vital role in countering aerial threats during the operation. Capable of detecting and neutralizing micro and mini UAVs in real-time, the system uses jamming technologies like GPS spoofing and radio frequency interference to disable enemy drones without kinetic force when needed.

Nagastra-1

India’s first indigenous loitering munition, Nagastra-1, significantly aided Indian troops in thwarting enemy advances. Developed by Nagpur-based Solar Industries, the portable suicide drone is designed to carry out precision strikes by flying directly into targets and detonating. Its effectiveness during the conflict showcased India’s rapid progress in drone warfare.

SkyStriker

Jointly developed by India and Israel, the SkyStriker loitering munition was another critical asset. It is capable of carrying 5–10 kg of explosives, flying up to two hours, and striking targets with stealth and precision. Its successful deployment demonstrated India's growing capability in long-range, high-accuracy drone operations.

BrahMos supersonic missile

One of the highlights of Operation Sindoor was the deployment of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile — a flagship Indo-Russian project now deeply integrated into India's strategic arsenal. The Indian Air Force used BrahMos to strike key Pakistani military airbases, causing significant structural damage. With a range of up to 500 km (and an 800 km variant under development), and flying at speeds up to Mach 3, the BrahMos is nearly impossible to intercept and is one of the most feared weapons in India’s inventory.

This brief conflict not only highlighted India's operational readiness but also underlined its growing self-reliance in defense manufacturing. Defence analysts say India’s ability to conduct a high-tech, high-impact military campaign using primarily indigenous systems marks a turning point in the country's strategic posture.

As regional tensions continue to simmer, the global defence community is closely watching how India’s military-industrial complex evolves — with Make in India weapons systems now proving themselves in real combat scenarios.

This visual confirmation followed a joint briefing by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force on Operation Sindoor, the codename for India’s military operations carried out during the recent four-day conflict. The release came just a day after Air Marshal A.K. Bharti stated that India had successfully downed several high-tech aircraft belonging to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), although he had initially refrained from naming specific aircraft models.

Speaking on Sunday during the initial round of briefings, Air Marshal Bharti remarked, “As I said, their planes were prevented from coming inside our border. So, we don't have wreckage with us, but definitely, we have downed a few Pakistani planes... I have the numbers and we are getting into technical details to establish it.”

The confirmation of the Mirage's downing is significant due to the aircraft’s role as a backbone of the PAF’s offensive capabilities. While India has previously confirmed that it targeted key Pakistani military infrastructure under Operation Sindoor, this is the first time photographic or video proof of a specific enemy aircraft being neutralised has been publicly shared.

Defence experts note that the move to release the footage is not only intended to inform the public but also to send a strategic message to Pakistan and the international community regarding the efficacy and precision of India's air defence operations.

As India continues its series of military briefings and transparency initiatives, questions remain about the full extent of damage inflicted on both sides during the conflict, and whether any further disclosures—such as drone footage or satellite imagery—will be released.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has yet to officially confirm any losses to its Mirage fleet or respond to the Indian claims.

After India and Pakistan agreed to stop further de-escalation, as both countries reached an understanding following the DGMO-level talks, the Chinese military on Monday denied reports that its largest military cargo plane had carried arms supplies to Pakistan and warned of legal action against those spreading such rumours. The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAF) has denied that its Xi'an Y-20 military transport aircraft has taken supplies to Pakistan.

After seeing a large amount of information on the internet about a "Y-20 transporting relief supplies to Pakistan", the Air Force said in a statement that such claims were untrue, a report on the official website of the Chinese Defence Ministry said on Monday.

The PLAF also posted several screenshots of photos and words that shared the incorrect information, with each stamped with the red word "rumour".

"The internet is not beyond the law! Those who produce and spread military-related rumours will be held legally responsible!" the report added.

The denial by the PLA, which shares close ties with its Pakistan counterpart, was regarded as significant, coming two days after an understanding between India and Pakistan to stop all firings and military actions and Islamabad's requirement for immediate replenishments.

According to a recent report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), China has emerged as the largest weapons supplier to Pakistan, accounting for 81 per cent of arms procurement for China’s all-weather ally from 2020 to 2024.

The procurement included the latest jet fighters, radars, naval ships, submarines and missiles. Both countries jointly manufacture J-17 aircraft, the mainstay of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

India launched 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7 to destroy nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack. This was followed by major strikes on several Pakistan airbases a day later, virtually weakening Pakistan’s ability to retaliate.

The Indian military on Monday displayed the wreckage of a likely PL-15 air-to-air missile, believed to be of Chinese origin and used by Pakistan in a recent strike, along with the remnants of Turkish-origin YIHA and Songar drones shot down by Indian forces. The debris, laid out for the media at the National Media Centre in New Delhi, served as stark evidence of the aerial engagements that marked India's swift retaliation under "Operation Sindoor," launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.

Senior commanders from all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces addressed the media for the second consecutive day, outlining the key achievements of the operation. Air Marshal A K Bharti, Director General Air Operations, noted the effectiveness of India's indigenous air defense capabilities, particularly the Akash system, which played a critical role in neutralizing aerial threats. "Our battle-proven systems stood the test of time," he said, emphasising the importance of recent budgetary and policy support for these advancements.

Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, Director General Military Operations, reflected on the shifting nature of terrorism, pointing out that attacks have increasingly targeted civilians. Referring to the April 22 strike, he remarked, "Pahalgam tak paap ka ye ghada bhar chuka tha," indicating that the scale of atrocities had reached a tipping point, prompting a decisive Indian response.

Vice Admiral AN Pramod, Director General Naval Operations, also addressed the briefing, highlighting the joint operational coordination that underpinned the success of "Operation Sindoor," demonstrating India's resolve to counter emerging threats.
