The disturbances were reported near Raj Vihar Centre in Kurnool city during the night of the final match, where large crowds had gathered on the streets to celebrate the team’s title win. Amid the celebrations, unruly groups targeted several Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation buses, smashing windows and causing extensive damage to public assets. Private vehicles and roadside infrastructure were also affected in the vandalism.

Following formal complaints, a case was registered, and District Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil directed officials to identify those responsible and initiate strict action. Police teams examined CCTV footage from the area, reviewed videos circulated on social media, and relied on technical evidence to trace the individuals involved. Based on the investigation, 18 persons allegedly involved in the incidents were identified and arrested.

On Monday, the accused were brought from the Two Town Police Station and escorted to court under tight security arrangements. Police personnel marched alongside the accused through the city, drawing the attention of residents and traders.

Authorities issued a strict warning that no individual will be permitted to damage public or private property under the guise of celebrations. Officials further stated that the investigation remains ongoing, and additional individuals may be questioned if further evidence emerges.

All arrested individuals have been produced before the court, and subsequent legal proceedings are currently underway, as law enforcement reinforces its stance against public disorder during celebratory events.

The strategic inclusion of Taekema has been made to significantly enhance the team’s conversion rate from penalty corners as India prepares for the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup New Zealand 2025–26, scheduled from 15 to 21 June 2026. The team is being guided under Chief Coach Sjoerd Marijne.

Indian drag flickers Deepika, Lalthantluangi, and Annu are actively participating in these high-intensity focused sessions, which aim to strengthen India’s attacking efficiency and improve execution under pressure ahead of a crucial international season.

Taeke Taekema, widely regarded as one of the greatest drag flick specialists in world hockey history, represented the Netherlands at the international level and earned over 200 appearances along with 221 international goals. His career includes participation in multiple Olympic Games and FIH Hockey World Cups, where he was known for his powerful and precise penalty-corner conversions.

The development initiative is supported by Anandana, the Coca-Cola India Foundation, which continues its contribution toward the growth of women’s hockey in India. The same foundation also supported a specialised goalkeeping training camp conducted by renowned coach David Williamson in Bengaluru prior to the team’s departure for Australia.

As part of their preparations, the Indian team played a four-match friendly series against Australia at the Perth Hockey Stadium from 26 to 30 May 2026. Both teams secured two victories each, resulting in a 2–2 series draw that highlighted the competitive balance between the sides.

The Indian squad is scheduled to arrive in New Zealand on 3 June, where they will continue their preparation with additional practice matches ahead of the FIH Women’s Nations Cup.

Chief Coach Sjoerd Marijne emphasised the importance of the specialised training, stating that penalty corners remain a decisive factor in modern hockey and that Taeke Taekema’s expertise would be highly valuable for the squad. He added that Taekema’s role extends beyond drag flicking, including contributions to defensive structure improvement.

Marijne further noted that the coaching staff shares a strong alignment in approach with Taekema and highlighted his extensive international playing experience as a key asset for the team. He also stated that India already possesses strong drag flicking options, including Navneet Kaur, and stressed the importance of maximizing penalty-corner opportunities to enhance match outcomes.

The integration of world-class expertise into India’s women’s hockey preparation underscores a focused push toward technical refinement and competitive sharpness as the team enters a decisive international phase.

He stated that if elected President of the United States again, he would strengthen his ties with India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a Diwali message, Trump extended greetings on the occasion and accused his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, and President Joe Biden of ignoring Hindus in the United States and across the world. He asserted that he would protect Hindu Americans from what he described as an anti-religious agenda associated with the radical left and work to defend their religious freedom.

Trump also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his “friend” and described him as the “nicest human being,” recalling earlier remarks made last month in which he praised the Indian leader.

The statement comes amid heightened political messaging on international religious issues and diaspora concerns, with Trump linking foreign developments in Bangladesh to his broader foreign policy stance and outreach to Hindu American voters.

The remarks have added a new dimension to the ongoing campaign narrative, highlighting both international religious tensions and domestic political positioning ahead of the United States presidential election.

India has confirmed that no cases of Ebola disease have been reported in the country as of June 2, 2026, according to a health advisory issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The ministry has issued a precautionary advisory for individuals who have travelled from or transited through Ebola-affected countries within the past 21 days. Such individuals have been urged to remain vigilant and closely monitor their health for symptoms associated with the disease.

Authorities have specifically warned that symptoms including fever, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, and unexplained bleeding require immediate self-isolation and prompt reporting to local health authorities. The ministry has further advised the public to seek guidance and assistance through its 24-hour national health helpline at 1075.

Health officials have stressed that early reporting of symptoms remains critical for timely medical intervention and for preventing any potential spread of infection. The ministry reiterated that there are currently no confirmed Ebola cases in India, while urging both travellers and healthcare providers to maintain strict vigilance and adhere to established public health protocols.

In parallel, India has dispatched a second tranche of medical assistance to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, aimed at strengthening the ongoing response to the Ebola outbreak in Africa. The consignment includes protective equipment, diagnostic and monitoring tools, medicines, and nutritional supplements, collectively weighing 43 tonnes.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated on social media platform X that India has sent the second batch of assistance to Africa CDC, expressing confidence that the supplies will enhance public health preparedness and strengthen Ebola response capacities across the African continent.

Earlier, on May 24, India had dispatched the first tranche of urgent medical supplies and protective kits to Africa CDC, reaffirming its commitment to supporting affected regions during the public health emergency.

On May 29, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that India remained prepared to continue assistance to affected countries and Africa CDC. The medical supplies were formally handed over by the Indian High Commissioner in Uganda, Upender Singh Rawat, to the Africa CDC office.

On May 31, Africa CDC acknowledged and welcomed India’s emergency medical assistance, expressing gratitude for New Delhi’s support amid the worsening Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The World Health Organization had earlier declared the ongoing Ebola situation in the region a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on May 17.

Ebola is a severe and often fatal disease transmitted through direct contact with infected bodily fluids, contaminated materials, or infected animals, with symptoms ranging from fever, vomiting, and diarrhoea to severe internal and external bleeding in advanced cases.

The combined domestic vigilance and international humanitarian assistance underscore India’s dual approach of safeguarding national public health while contributing to global epidemic response efforts.

External Affairs Minister S.

In response to renewed global concern over the Ebola virus outbreak, the Government of India on Tuesday issued a fresh advisory urging individuals who have travelled from or transited through affected countries to immediately isolate themselves if symptoms appear. The advisory comes amid heightened international monitoring of the disease and precautionary measures adopted by multiple nations.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare clarified that no confirmed Ebola cases have been reported in India. However, it warned that individuals who have recently travelled to Ebola-affected countries and develop symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, or unexplained bleeding must immediately isolate themselves and inform local health authorities without delay.

The ministry further emphasized the importance of rapid response and public awareness, stating that citizens should contact the national helpline number 1075 for assistance and guidance. It underscored that early reporting can significantly reduce the risk of transmission and help save lives.

The advisory also follows the government’s recent decision to issue travel cautions advising against non-essential travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan, all of which have been identified as Ebola-affected regions.

Amid public concern, Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya recently reassured citizens that a suspected Ebola case involving a traveller from the Democratic Republic of the Congo had tested negative. He urged the public not to panic and to rely solely on official communications issued by the Health Department, warning against misinformation and rumours.

The Ebola outbreak had earlier been declared a “public health emergency of international concern” by the World Health Organization following the death of approximately 80 people across affected regions. The total death toll later increased to over 200, with 1,077 suspected cases reported since the beginning of the outbreak.

While the World Health Organization clarified that the outbreak did not yet meet the criteria for a global pandemic emergency, it warned countries sharing borders with the Democratic Republic of the Congo to remain on high alert due to elevated risk levels.

Recent developments suggest a possible easing of the situation. According to a Bloomberg report, authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have reopened the main airport in the eastern province most affected by the outbreak after health officials observed early indications that the spread of the virus may be slowing.

The evolving situation continues to prompt heightened surveillance, cross-border coordination, and preventive public health measures as governments and international agencies work to contain the outbreak and prevent further global spread.

Former Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party chief K Annamalai is reportedly on the verge of leaving the party and launching a new political outfit, according to sources. The development marks a major political shift in the state, where he had emerged as the BJP’s most visible face and a key architect of its expansion strategy over recent years.

According to sources cited by India Today TV, Annamalai has declined all offers extended by the BJP’s central leadership. He is expected to float a new political party that will position itself against Dravidian model politics and adopt a more nationalist ideological framework. His next move remains uncertain, with speculation also indicating the possibility of a non-political movement alongside or instead of a formal party formation.

The reported decision follows a prolonged period of internal tensions, conflicting ambitions, electoral setbacks, and a widening disconnect between Annamalai’s political approach and the strategic direction of the party’s central leadership. His exit comes at a politically sensitive time ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Annamalai’s tenure as state BJP president from 2021 to 2025 was marked by aggressive grassroots mobilisation, anti-corruption campaigns, and sustained criticism of both the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. While this strategy significantly increased the BJP’s visibility and vote share, it also strained the party’s alliances in the state.

Tensions between the BJP and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam escalated following Annamalai’s remarks on Dravidian leaders C. N. Annadurai and J. Jayalalithaa, which drew sharp criticism from senior All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leaders, including General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami. The party accused him of making unnecessary and defamatory statements and demanded both an apology and disciplinary action.

The BJP initially defended Annamalai and proceeded to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections independently without the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. The party’s vote share reportedly rose from 3.6 percent in 2019 to 11.2 percent in 2024, marking its strongest parliamentary performance in Tamil Nadu. However, it failed to secure any seats.

Annamalai contested from Coimbatore in the 2024 elections and led a high-energy campaign but lost to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate Ganapathy Rajkumar by more than 17,800 votes. He had earlier also contested the 2021 Assembly elections from Aravakurichi, where he was defeated, highlighting the structural challenges faced by the BJP in converting electoral momentum into victories in a state dominated by the two Dravidian parties.

Ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, the BJP recalibrated its strategy and prioritised rebuilding its alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. This shift came after internal assessments concluded that the party’s prospects in Tamil Nadu required a strong regional partner.

As part of this strategic realignment, Annamalai was replaced as state BJP president in April 2025 by Nainar Nagendran, a former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam minister considered acceptable to the Palaniswami faction. The leadership change was widely interpreted as an effort to repair strained ties between the two parties.

He was subsequently not given a ticket for the 2026 Assembly elections and was assigned a limited role in campaign activities. He later stepped away from several organisational responsibilities, citing personal reasons.

Supporters of Annamalai believe that his removal from a central political role was influenced by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s discomfort with his leadership style and that his sidelining was effectively linked to efforts to restore the alliance. Although neither party officially confirmed such conditions, the sequence of events has reinforced these perceptions within political circles.

The BJP’s recalibration reflects a broader strategic calculation between long-term expansion in Tamil Nadu under Annamalai’s leadership vision and immediate electoral viability through alliance politics. His potential exit now signals a critical turning point in the state’s political landscape.

Conclusion

Annamalai’s reported departure from the Bharatiya Janata Party underscores deepening internal realignments within the organisation in Tamil Nadu. It highlights the tension between independent political consolidation and alliance-driven electoral strategy, with implications for the state’s evolving political balance ahead of the Assembly elections.

A 32-second video clip purportedly recorded secretly by a husband in Madhya Pradesh has surfaced online, showing an alleged case of domestic assault in which a woman is seen physically beating her husband. The man is heard pleading for mercy in the recording, while also claiming that his earlier complaints to the police were ignored.

According to the claims associated with the video, the husband had previously approached authorities seeking intervention, but no action was taken at the time. The footage has since drawn widespread attention on social media, with users highlighting concerns over delayed response mechanisms and alleged institutional bias in handling complaints involving male victims.

The incident has also been compared online with earlier reported cases from Madhya Pradesh, including those involving locomotive pilot Lokesh Manjhi and Ankit Aswani. In those cases, police action reportedly followed only after videos became public, leading to the registration of First Information Reports and subsequent court proceedings.

While the current clip continues to circulate widely, there has been no official confirmation from police authorities regarding the authenticity, timing, or origin of the video. The absence of an official statement has further intensified public debate surrounding the case.

Adding to the confusion, social media discussions have also referenced a Nigerian prank skit, which some users claim resembles elements of the circulating video, though no verified link between the two has been established.

The incident has triggered broader discussions online about the need for gender-neutral legal protections and more responsive complaint mechanisms. However, in the absence of verified official information, the case remains under public speculation.

The significance of the incident now rests on whether authorities will verify the footage and clarify the sequence of events, as public scrutiny over law enforcement response continues to grow.
