AI-Generated Image of Youth Sleeping With Firearm Triggers Buzz in Prayagraj, Found to Be Fake
A viral social media photograph showing a young man allegedly sleeping with a firearm on his chest in Prayagraj's Ghoorpur area has been declared fake after a police investigation. Technical analysis revealed the image was generated using Artificial Intelligence, prompting authorities to warn against sharing misleading online content.
The photograph began circulating rapidly across multiple social media platforms on Monday. In the image, a young man from a village under the jurisdiction of Ghoorpur Police Station appeared to be sleeping with a firearm resting on his chest. As the image gained traction online, it sparked widespread discussion among local residents.
While some social media users linked the image to an alleged display of bravado and intimidation, others questioned its authenticity and raised concerns about whether the photograph had been digitally manipulated.
After learning about the viral image, Ghoorpur Police immediately launched an investigation. Given the sensitivity of the matter, officers acted swiftly and summoned the young man for questioning. The photograph was also subjected to technical examination as part of the inquiry.
The investigation established that the viral image was not genuine. During technical analysis, investigators identified multiple digital indicators confirming that the photograph had been generated using AI technology. Authorities further determined that the image had no connection to any real incident.
Abdus Salam Khan of Kaundhiyara urged the public to verify the authenticity of photographs, videos, and messages before sharing them on social media platforms. He stated that the police cyber cell is continuously monitoring online activity and keeping a close watch on content circulating across digital platforms.
He also warned that individuals responsible for posting or spreading misleading and false content could face legal action under applicable laws.
Following the police findings confirming the image as fabricated, the rumours and speculation circulating throughout the area have subsided. Authorities have once again appealed to the public to use social media responsibly and refrain from sharing unverified information that could mislead people and create unnecessary confusion.
