BJP Chief Slams Opposition for Parliamentary Gridlock, Urges End to ‘Infantile’ Tactics

BJP President J.P. Nadda has condemned the opposition for stalling parliamentary proceedings, accusing them of making a mockery of democracy. He urged senior Congress leaders to stop being "hostages to infantile tactics" and emphasized that PM Modi’s government is ready for debate. NEW DELHI — In a sharp escalation of the ongoing friction within India’s legislative corridors, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Jagat Prakash Nadda has launched a scathing critique of the opposition’s conduct, accusing them of systematically undermining democratic traditions. While asserting that the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains steadfast in its commitment to open dialogue on any subject, Nadda lamented the persistent disruptions that have brought parliamentary proceedings to a grinding halt. His remarks highlight a deepening chasm between the Treasury and Opposition benches, as the ruling party seeks to frame the current legislative stalemate as a deliberate affront to the mandate of the people.

Addressing the impasse with uncharacteristic bluntness, the BJP chief directed his focus toward the senior leadership of the Congress party, urging them to reclaim their political agency. He cautioned against allowing the party’s direction to be dictated by what he described as "infantile" impulses, suggesting that the nation’s oldest political entity has become "hostage to an arrogant and immature child." By framing the opposition’s strategy as a departure from seasoned political wisdom, Nadda underscored the necessity of adhering to established parliamentary norms. He argued that the complex machinery of a global democracy cannot be governed by the whims of individual ego, but must instead function within the framework of rules and mutual respect.

Nadda further emphasized that the sanctity of democratic institutions is a collective responsibility, warned that the current trend of obstructionism sets a dangerous precedent for the future of Indian governance. He maintained that while dissent is a cornerstone of democracy, the refusal to engage in structured debate serves only to weaken the very platforms meant to represent the public interest. As the government continues to push for a return to legislative business, the BJP’s rhetoric has shifted toward portraying the opposition as an obstacle to progress. This confrontation reflects a broader battle for the narrative, as both sides navigate the delicate balance between political protest and the functional requirements of the state.
