Uttarakhand: 8 dead, several injured as vehicle crashes near Suni Bridge in Pithoragarh
In a tragic accident on Tuesday, eight people lost their lives when a vehicle carrying 13 passengers fell into a gorge near the Suni bridge in Muwani town, located in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. The mishap has sent shockwaves through the region, prompting an immediate response from local authorities and emergency services.
Pithoragarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Rekha Yadav confirmed the fatalities and stated that police teams, along with local rescue workers, have reached the site and launched rescue operations. Efforts are currently underway to retrieve the bodies and assist those injured in the crash.
According to initial reports, the vehicle was en route to a nearby village when it lost control and plunged into a deep ravine. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, though authorities suspect poor road conditions or mechanical failure could be contributing factors.
