Donald Trump says he knew abut India's military strikes against Pakistan, hopes it ends quickly

New Delhi:

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday reacted to India's military strikes against terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, saying the development had been anticipated and expressing hope for a quick resolution to the conflict.

"We just heard about it as we were walking into the Oval Office. Just heard about it. I suppose people expected something like this, given the history. They have been in conflict for a long time, many decades, even centuries if you think about it. I hope it ends very quickly," Trump said.

The US State Department also addressed the situation but chose not to offer an immediate evaluation. In a statement to ANI, a spokesperson said, “We are aware of the reports, however, we have no assessment to offer at this time. This remains an evolving situation, and we are closely monitoring developments.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s military confirmed that Indian missile strikes had targeted Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and the Ahmed East area of Bahawalpur. Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said, “Some time ago, the cowardly enemy India launched air strikes on the Subhanullah mosque in Bahawalpur’s Ahmed East area, as well as Kotli and Muzaffarabad, carrying out attacks at three locations from the air.”

He added that Pakistan Air Force jets were deployed in response and that the strikes had originated from within Indian airspace. “All of our air force jets are airborne,” he stated.
